How to Make… Floral Flocked Wedding Stationery

DIY Wedding Stationery

Floral flocked wedding stationery design to make at home.

There’s noting like texture to add a sense of opulence to a design, like this floral flocked wedding stationery range demonstrates. When Alex finished working on this range, we all fell in love with it. The combination of flocked paper with lace, flowers and pearls works amazingly well, giving a sense of luxury while still maintaining a shabby chic look.

This range is pretty easy to make yourself. You can customise it by changing the papers, colours, laces or embellishments to make something that works for your special day.

Here’s how we made them:

INVITATIONS

For each invitation you will need:

1 and 1/2 sheet of Pearlised Cream Card  BUY
1/2 sheet of pearlised Cream Paper  BUY
15cm of Joy Lace  BUY
1 Wild Rose Flower in White  BUY
1 Anya Pearl and Crystal Embellishment  BUY
50cm of Natural hemp cord  BUY
1/6 sheet of Kraft Paper  BUY
1/2 sheet of Vine Flocked Paper  BUY

Other things you might need:

Paper Trimmer and scoring blade  BUY
Hot melt glue gun  BUY
Tape Runner  BUY

you will also need scissors.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut a piece of pearlised cream card 14.5cm x 29cm. Score and fold in half.

Print your wording on to the Pearlised Cream Paper and cut down to size. The finished size should be 13cm x 13cm. You should be able to fit 2 invitations panels on each sheet of paper.

Cut a piece of Pearlised Cream Card 14cm x 14cm. Stick this on to the inside (right) of your folded card using the tape runner. Stick the invitation panel on top.

Cut a piece of Vine Flocked paper 14cm x 14cm. Stick this to the front of your card.

Cut a piece of Kraft Paper 3.5cm wide x 14.5cm long. Stick this across the front of your invitation (about 2.5cm from the bottom)

Using your tape runner, stick the Joy Lace over the top of the Kraft Paper. Use a sharp scissors to cut off any overlapping edges at each side.

Take your Natural Hemp Cord and tie two bows, a small and a large one. The larger one needs to be about 7cm wide. The smaller one needs to be appx. 4cm wide.

Use your glue gun to stick the larger bow in to place just underneath where your flower will go.

Take your flower and carefully pull out the central crystal. For this invitation, Alex cut a small section of Joy Lace (about 4cm wide), rounded the edges with a scissors and stuck this to the middle of the flower. This is not necessary but it is a nice finishing touch.

Stick your flower on top of the card (set to the left and placed in the middle of the Kraft paper and lace).

Stick the Smaller Natural Hemp Cord bow to the middle of the flower (using the hot melt glue gun)

Stick the Anya embellishment on top of the bow using the hot melt glue gun.

12cm of May arts narrow lace  BUY
1/2 Wild Rose Flower in White (you can use the rest of the flower for other items)  BUY

1/20 sheet of Kraft Paper  BUY
1/6 sheet of Vine Flocked Paper  BUY

Other things you might need:

Paper Trimmer and scoring blade  BUY
Hot melt glue gun  BUY
Tape Runner  BUY

you will also need scissors.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut a piece of pearlised cream card 21cm x 9cm. Score and fold in half.

Cut a piece of Vine Flocked paper 10cm x 8.5cm. Stick this to the front of your card.

Cut a piece of Kraft Paper 1cm wide x 10.5cm long. Stick this along the front of your card (about 2.5cm from the bottom)

Using your tape runner, stick the May Arts Lace over the top of the Kraft Paper with the straight edge sitting flush to the top of the Kraft paper. Use a sharp scissors to cut off any overlapping edges at each side.

Take your Natural Hemp Cord and tie a small bow appx. 4cm wide.

Take your flower and carefully pull out the central crystal. Remove the larger (back) layer and the smaller front layer of the flower by pulling them away from the rest one at a time. For this Thank you card, Alex has used some off cuts of wider lace to add in layers to the centre of the flower. This is a nice finishing touch but the design will look just fine without it!
