How To Make … Elegant Bow Wedding Invitations

Make Your Own Elegant Bow Wedding Invitations

We have one of our lovely customers to thank for this beautiful design. She wanted an elegant evening invitation that would co-ordinate with the day invitations she’s chosen. (scroll to the bottom for more information on her day invitations)
We decided to turn the bow into an invitation wrap which meant that we could use an oversize bow without effecting the amount of room available for the text.
I’m pleased to say that our customer was delighted and we loved it so much, we decided to add a tutorial to our website.
We’ve used a Rose Gold ribbon in this invitation. But if it doesn’t match your theme, there’s no need to worry. This is a super easy invitation to customise. Just change your choice of Ribbon or backing paper to create something unique to you.

For Each Invitation You Will Need:

1 x Pearlised Ivory Card
1/2 sheet of Renaissance Flock Paper (1 sheet makes 2 invitations)
1 meter of 38mm Rose Gold Sparkle Ribbon

Also:
PaperTrimmer (you only need one of these!)
High Tack Double Sided Tape
Scissors
Hot Melt Glue Gun

…..if you would like us to print the inserts for you, CLICK HERE
(you will be able to fit 2 invitations on each A4 sheet)

If you’re not big on reading instructions, we’ve put together a video to show you how it’s done (just press play)……

You’ll also need to download this template…..

INVITATION TEMPLATE

We used the following fonts:
Aidan Script and Copperplate Light

So Here Are The Instructions……

Instructions

  • Use your paper trimmer to cut your pearlised ivory card to the following measurements: 14.5cm x 14.5cm and 12.5cm x 12.5cm
  • Use your paper trimmer to cut your Renaissance Flock paper to the following measurement: 14.5cm x 14.5cm
  • Use the high tack tape to stick the Renaissance Flock paper on top of the 14.5cm x 14.5cm card panel. Make sure you run tape around the outside edges and across the centre.
  • Download the INVITATION TEMPLATE. Type your wording in the printable areas. (We used the following fonts……. Aidan Script and Copperplate Light). Once you are happy with the wording, print it onto the 12.5cm x 12.5cm pearlised ivory card panel.
  • Use the high tack tape to stick the printed invitation panel on top of the Renaissance Flock panel, making sure that your borders are even. You now have a completed flat invitation.
  • Cut a length of ribbon 31cm long (twice the width of your invitation plus 2cm). Place the ribbon on a flat surface.
  • Position your flat invitation face down in the middle of the ribbon. Bring both ends of the ribbon in towards the back of the invitation and use your glue gun to stick one end of the ribbon on to the other end, forming a band around the invitation.
  • You now need to make a bow. Pull off a length of ribbon and tie a bow using what I like to call the “bunny ear” method. Depending on the ribbon you choose, your bow might need a bit of teasing. Keep tightening and loosening the bow until you have teased it in to shape. Once you are happy with the shape and size of the bow, you can cut off the excess ribbon. Leaving a small tail to the bow, cut the excess ribbon off into an inverted “V” shape.
  • Turn your bow upside down and add some glue from your glue gun along the outside edges. Press the bow in to place on top of the ribbon band. Make sure that you don’t get any glue on the card or paper.

So you’re done!!! One gorgeous invitation that can be used for a day or evening invitation.

TIP 1 – Change the backing card, patterned paper or ribbon to coordinate with your theme.

TIP 2 – Because you are making an invitation wrap from the ribbon, you can easily add an RSVP card or additional information sheet to this design….just slot it underneath the ribbon.

TIP 3 – Because of the flocked backing, these invitations work really well as a stand alone (without the bow). So to save money, why not make them with a bow for your day guests and without a bow for your evening guests?

DAY INVITATIONS……….

Our customer chose our gorgeous Renaissance Flock Wallets for her day invitations. She changed the bow colour from a beautiful Raspberry Red, to a stunning Rose Gold. To see full design instructions, CLICK HERE.
