Wedding Invitation Wording Guide Layout and Content

Our Wedding Invitation Wording Guide will help you when making your own wedding invitations. Here we have written some basic rules and wording templates to help you write the content for your invitations. We have focused on the traditional layouts, but feel free to get creative and be sure to follow the general rules for titles and names as well as including the important info!

Content needs to include:

  • Who is getting married?
  • Where is the ceremony?
  • Date and time?
  • Where is the reception/evening reception?
  • Addresses?
  • RSVP address

You can also add information about local accommodation and parking on another insert.

There are also some general rules when it comes to writing names:

Titles:

  • Not needed for the bride
  • Not needed for the groom if he is hosting as a couple or with his parents.
  • Always include professional titles such as Doctor or Professor

Surnames:

  • Not needed for the Bride if the brides parents are hosting, but included if couple are hosting or the grooms parents.

Order:

  • The brides name ALWAYS goes before the Groom’s
  • Parents are ordered as Mr. and Mrs. followed by the husbands full name
