Top Tip – Universal Vellum
Use Vellum on Your Wedding Stationery in so many ways!

Vellum is a fantastic way of adding an extra special twist to your wedding stationery designs. It can give a luxury feel to a low cost design. It’s extremely versatile and because of it’s neutral colour, it can be used to enhance any colour or print you choose. That’s why we thought to share our top tip – universal vellum!

TIP – USE A LASER PRINTER IF POSSIBLE
A laser printer will give you the best print finish on Vellum paper.

TIP – IF YOU ARE USING AN INKJET PRINTER…….
– Sometimes the ink from an inkjet printer can smudge or bleed because of the non-pours nature of vellum. Ink will take a longer time to dry. So try using a different quality mode on your printer (e.g. draft or quick) which uses less ink. The less ink you use, the less time it will take to dry.

  • Let it Dry!!!! Print it, lay it flat and give it some time to dry before you work with it.

To help inspire you, we’ve designed a number of complimentary wedding stationery items using vellum in different ways. Why not have a go yourself using a colour and print of your choice.

1 – PRINT THE INVITATION ON TO VELLUM

Print your invitation wording on to vellum and then place it against a background of your choice. This is a really low cost and simple way of creating expensive looking invitations.

2 – MAKE A MONOGRAMMED OVERLAY

Overlays are an easy way of adding depth and interest to your designs.

Once you’ve made your invitation, print your monogram (or personal message) on to vellum and place it over the top. This is easy to achieve and adds a fantastic personal touch.

3 – MAKE AN INVITATION WRAP

I love invitation wraps. There is something about them that creates a sense of mystery and intrigue…..almost like having to unwrap a gift. And what could be better than making an overlay using vellum?

4 – VELLUM INSERTS

Create interest inside your invitation by using vellum for your inserts. We’ve used a lovely floral vellum here. A perfect finishing touch.

5 – VELLUM INVITATION WALLETS

Use vellum invitation wallets to make a simple invitation come to life! A quick, easy and effective way of adding interest.

6 – MAKE VELLUM TAGS OR PLACE CARDS

We love this quick and simple idea. Use vellum to make name cards or gift tags. Just print, punch, thread some ribbon and you’re good to go!

Low cost but extremely effective!

7 – MAKE INTERESTING TABLE DECORATIONS / MENU’s

A really simple but effective use of vellum. All you need to do is get hold of some off cuts of wood (or other material), print your menu on to the vellum, wrap it around and stick it in to place with double sided tape. To finish off, slide a stem of flowers behind the vellum.

I think this is one of my favourite uses for vellum!
It sets my mind on fire with all the possibilities!
Why not try this idea with the following:

  • Wine bottles
  • Jars
  • Vintage bottles
  • Vases
  • Vintage Books

8 – VELLUM ENVELOPE

Vellum envelopes are simple gorgeous! They give a sneaky hint of what is contained inside. They both look and feel amazing and add a total sense of luxury.

You can easily make your own vellum envelopes using the We R Memory Keepers envelope punch boards (sold on our website).

Why not give this one a go? Vellum envelopes can not only be used for your wedding invitations or thank you cards etc, with a little imagination, they can also be used for some of the following purposes:

  • Unique wedding favours (e.g. put some seeds inside each vellum envelope with a special message)
  • Escort Cards
